Leil gay said:Hi mark been using Cognescenti last 1o years most are 19-20 oz 57-58in firm hit, moori tips with weight spread throughout. I HIT BALLS WITH 100S of cues these are best! would not sell this cue for 10000 and i'm a little short! Wait i think i seen one on thi cue forum.
yea i remember being there but not the hammer and tip. but i know it happened cause i used to see if i could get the tip as hard as i can to see if it would hold its shape. it worked but the problem was it got to hard and unscufable and i would miscue alot. but i keep experimenting on cues that dont hit well in the first place so im not sure what the results are in reality.bandido said:Hi Mark,
I dont know if you'll remember me but we met at Lion's Den in Vegas back in '96 during a McDermott tourstop where you finished 2nd to Parica. I was the one one who put on your tip that we were both pounding with a hammer to get it to the hardness you wanted.LOL What an unforgettable experience.
We have a lot of cuemaker members here and you can view their products and customer feedbacks in the forums. Give Mike Webb a try.
well the cue i play with is a lucasi sneaky pete. i dont play very well with it and have to really concentrate and watch out for deflection cause i use side english most of the time . so if i have a cue that doesnt give the inconsistant of the amount of side english i apply my cue ball wont be where its supposed to be or i will miss the shot or both so i really need to fix this problem.Matt_24 said:Whatever you used to win that IPT qualifier. No...a black on black cuetec...I saw you running out with one of those against Sigel.
I think you get the most bang for your buck with a Schon cue plus Predator shaft. Have you tried the Predator Mark?
mark tadd said:yes i heard Cognescenti is one of the best 15 years ago but to expensive for me though. ive always had a problem paying for a cue ive never seen or played with. so thats why i never played with a cue no more expensive than a cue tech for the most part. but ive ran across a few cues that i hit with that were incredible but someone elses and not for sale.
and i could play much better with them. so i never owned a good hitting cue and thats the reason i used to experiment and practice so much because it didnt always do what it was supposed to do and i thought it was me . but i realy like the feel of a longer cue like 60 inches but not sure what wieght would make it hit well. well thanks voodoo im just glad i made it in the first week . guess i better start practicing and see what happens.
well i dont know what i want till i feel it. cause i tried cues that felt great that hit very inconsistant. so i guess im leaning more toward a longer cue cause ive tried other peoples and the balance seems better and seems to be a more solid cue that 58 inch. i find myself running out of stick alot to.Jeffrey Gayle said:Hi Mark. congrats on your IPT spot. What do you shot with now to get an idea of what kind of hit you like, then go from there. IMO there's 4 cues that play great and they are, Capone, Cognoscenti, Bender and BlueGrass cues. These are good playing cues in my opinoin, well balanced & feel good in the hand. Good luck Mark!!
bruin70 said:i'm quite surprised that a player as great as you, who has explored his game for all these years, hasn't finally settled on a cue configuration to your liking.
beyond that, all you need is trust in the integrity of a cuemaker, tell him what you like, and the hit you prefer, maybe even work together in the selection of woods and materials. in other words, get more involved in the building of the cue yourself. and you don't need to find an expensive cuemaker to do it.
i mean,,,you think you'd like a 60" cue, but you don't know what weight you'd like??? every great artist knows his materials!

Here is the American Cuemakers Association membership roster for the names and contact information for a lot of great cue makers.

Here is another list from the International Cuemakers Association.

Some makers I would highly recommend are:
Tim Scruggs Custom Cues http://www.timscruggs.com/
Mike Capone Custom Cues http://www.caponecues.com/
Mike Lambros Cues http://www.lambroscues.com/
Omen Custom Cues http://www.omencues.com/
I would also recommend Murray Tucker, but I don't know if he is making any cues right now and his web site is down.
These men all make very fine cues, but as I said, it all depends what you are looking for.
