Best euro taper shafts

Ive been looking at adding a different shaft for my predator p2 to go with my 314. I want to play a low deflection shaft with a smaller tip. That pretty much means a euro taper, or conical taper (same thing I guess) The logical choice is the z shaft. I have seen a lot of chatter about OB shafts too and though it seems a bit sacreligousto put an OB shaft on a predator cue, but how does the OB-2 compare to the Z2. Anything else I should consider?

Im looking for something in the 11-11.75mm tip range, low deflection (I would think that would eliminate a pro taper shaft that thin), but the one caveat is a few years back I could never get the feel for a strong taper (feels akward with a closed bridge, but I wasn't much more than an above average bar player at the time). I think I'd like to give it another shot. Is the taper less aggressive on the OB-2? Any other shafts I should consider. Which of the two are easier to shoot with? Anyone else switch to a different taper after a few years with a pro taper?

The taper is more aggressive on the ob2, as in it gets fatter quicker. They do have a very nice and crisp feel to them but I have relatively small hands so it felt awkward with a closed bridge. The z2 and i3 shaft is more gradual and almost identical from what I can tell. Given how you described what you are looking for I would stay away from the ob2. My z2 is 11.5 at the tip and it plays great with a super stiff hit which is surprising for how skinny it is. Deflection on it is almost non existent.

One advantage to the i3 is the warranty that it comes with. Which is lifetime against defects and warpage. You can also send the shaft in to Mcdermott twice a year to have it cleaned and retipped with a moori of your choice - all you have to pay is the shipping. That is a pretty big plus in my book and it shows that they stand behind their product.
