There are all kinds of jump cues--some trick shot/artisitic players carry 4, or more!--some weigh less than 4 ounces, and some folks jump with their full-length break cues/playing cues.

For normal play, what do you think is the best weight?

Weights in ounces.
If you jump with your player/break cue, that's probably more than 12.
If you don't jump, then this poll may not be for you.

the ultra lights are good for doing trick shot type jumps or super close ones, which i would not attempt in a game situation. but its hard to control the cue ball. for real match play, i think 9oz is the ideal weight. light enough to jump well, but heavy enough for some control.

I would agree.

This is why I am totally sold on 3 piece jump cues. I like a light jump cue 5-6 oz for close jumps then the option to add a few more ounces and length for the long jumps.
