Taking a cue from the "I practice great, but..." thread, I'm wondering if any of you have encountered a player who is of world class talent when playing for fun or small stakes, but can't find that same level in a tournament or a money match with significant stakes.

I've always been fascinated by such a phemonenon and find it somewhat tragic that great talent can be undermined in pressure situations.

Pretty interesting idea there, Midnightpulp. This is a gimme and it's not even close for the second place guy, whom ever he might be. Jackson, MS's own, Clyde "Crane" Mansell, just might be the favorite playing anyone on earth, bar table 9 ball, "FOR $10 A GAME".......

The name didn't bother, Crane. Back in the 70s, Keith McCready, didn't have to beat, Crane as long as the bet wasn't raised to $20 a game. Crane, was and still is one of the funniest guys who ever picked up a pool cue also.

From what I've heard, Cole Dickson was pretty cool for the cash in his earlier years... Would have loved to have played in that era...

mike eufima(sp),a friend of mine owned a pool hall in NY,said he was the best pratice player ever,he would run 600 praticing staight pool.
