Best People To Gamble With In Your State.

Many of us participated in the who is your best poo player thread and I was wondering if you might be interested in posting some potential action people, not necessarily the whales but they could be included. Basically I was interested in knowing if some of you would be interested in participating. I think the action people (those who like to gamble wouldn't mind having their names bandied about).

It would be nice to know who in each state likes to gamble. Some details would be fun and perhaps save some angst in matching up.

An example is below:

New Orleans, LA--Joey Auguzin, plays one pocket and nineball. Working man who likes to gamble at pool as a hobby. Normally bets from $10 to $100 a game depending upon the game and the opponent. Likes to race because he gets tired playing for long periods of time and will quit you if he gets tired (but that is normally after several hours of play). :-) He especially likes to play on weekends when he can sleep in late. Does get his nose opened from time to time. Matches up readily with out of town players as long as they haven't come to steal the Auguzin family fortune and as long as he can determine what a reasonable game is. He often practices by himself or with select opponents. Can't beat any of the road players but gambles nevertheless. The pool room you can find him at most often is Buffalo Billiards in Metairie, LA (suburbs of New Orleans) 504-279-2137. This is the action spot in Louisiana. Come pass a good time for fun or profit.

Now this was a little more mouthy than I would normally post about one person but it gives you an idea of what I am suggesting. This is kind of like pinning a bullseye on someone's back but most people who gamble probably don't mind a little attention just as long as their speed isn't mentioned. Some actually enjoy their speed mentioned but most don't.

Is this something you guys and gals would enjoy doing? If so I will add more.

Warm Regards,

JoeyA

Orlando: Jimmy's Billiards. Nothing like the old days when this was THE action joint in O-Town, but still has its moments. We have a player who comes in about every night who sounds exactly like Joey, same games, same betting level, probably about the same speed. For those wanting almost unlimited action, I just found out last night that a big-money matchup can be arranged with our "house player", who must remain anonymous. I hesitate to get involved in this, having already fumbled the ball once trying to get something set up, but I think I have a better link to the action people now. If anyone is planning a trip to Orlando, PM me with details of what you're looking for and I'll try to help...just understand that I'm not gonna knock anyone, but I won't knowingly put you in a trap either.

Noone where I live gambles....they're all cowards...if you even show any speed what so ever they accuse you of being a 'hustler'....LOLz

Arkansas

Even though I was born in Oklahoma and live here now, I spent most of my life in Arkansas, so let me answer for the other side of the state line

Jeff Melton (where he lives depends on how the wind is blowing, but
usually somewhere between Fayetteville and Nowhere, OK)Darryl Cowan Fort Smith
Bobby Ferrell Rogers
Shane Jones Has taken Walden before, but finding his is hard. He tends
to piss people off and moves around a lot.
Mark Sanders Russelville

I hear there's a pretty good stick up around Jonesboro, but haven't been through there yet and don't know his name. Jonesboro isn't that big, so I'd kind like to make the 4 hour drive and see what he's got.

Now, Oklahoma...

Shane McMinn Tulsa
James Walden OKC
Curtis Strange Tulsa

Hell, just head to Tulsa Billiard Palace and bring your money. A game can be found in there 24/7

Off the top of my head, I would say BJ, Jeff Abernathy, Tony Watson, Riley Myers, and Scott Lewis are probably willing to get into a match. There are a bunch up around Raleigh that I don't know, but have heard will match up pretty regularly as well. Really too many to count in the Carolinas.

(IMHO) - In Missouri - There is only one choice.

As I've said before - If you can't get a square Pool Gamble w/ Terry H., You need to find a new game to gamble on.
I personally have seen (more than you could imigine), Terry quit a game because he realized he had the nuts. He told the oponents, the game needed to be adjusted. Naturally they all thought he wanted to change it in his favor.
No, he wanted to change it to make it more of a fair game for both. He wanted to adjust it in favor of the oponent.
He dosen't want the nuts. He wants a fair game that offers a challenge. Don't get me wrong, he is trying to win and often does. When he finds himself up against The Nuts - He tends to Go Off - Thinking he can overcome the game by getting in stroke, And he has done that sometimes.
Once when he wanted to try to get a bad game because he liked the broke pool player but just wanted a good workout, he got pretty upset that none of the usual backers would back the player who was getting The Nuts.
Terry said "The hell with these so called backers, I got a good backer for you. The player says, great - Who?
Terry says - ME - Lets Go.
About half way through the 4 hour match - Terry ask Dean - You want to raise it from $30 a game to $50? Dean don't know what to say. Terry goes down to talk to Dean and says - Listen, I'm your backer, raise the bet and bust this sucker.
Anyone who knows Terry, (and many do) Knows were not talking chump change.
I've been around Pool & Gambling for over 46 years now and have never seen anyone like Terry. Or a better person to Gamble with at Pool.

Don't get me wrong - We have many other Missouri fine players & Gambling - It is just that Terry is the standout.

I don't know a specific person, but for cheap 1-pocket, billiards, snooker or 8/9b come to the Broken Rack in Emeryville. There are guys here who like to gamble all day long. Skills range from not good to some of the best around. Most days you'll find Poker Paul there and he's always up for a game of 1p.

Cheers,
RC

Sorry RC but where is Emeryville?
thanks,
JoeyA

What does Terry H do for a living, OHB?
Thanks,

I think mentioneing the names of people who play pool and like to gamble is not the same as knocking someone's game. It simply cuts down on the skulduggery of finding someone who gambles when you are passing through town. If I am down Orlando way I would love to meet up with the guy from Jimmy's Billiards as long as he isn't Rodney Morris. ;-)
Warm Regards,

Well ....

We have several that gamble, they just don't do it much anymore with
each other ... lol small sets, or challenge table.

All you have to do is stop in Shooters in Wichita, and ask for
Jr., Mark, Jeremy, Gumby, Scott (me), Jamie, Scott, Marshall, George, Terry, Paul, Lil Steve, or half dozen more players that gamble about anytime they pick up a cue. We all are not Walden's speed, but we can play a little.

Wichita has always been like a 'AAA' city for Pool, and last half of the 70's and 80's, there was action every night, good action, with lots of road players coming through, but like all cities, the national economy has taken
a toll on the Pool world some, but you can still find a game here. Or up
in Topeka or Olathe.

Bob (Cane) ... Last I knew, Shane McMinn was working at the Palace?
(That's what Brenda, his mom, said) What has happened to action at Magoos? And last I knew, Dave Hendricks and Walter Glass were still
in OKC, they gamble, or just go to Mikies, 24/7 place, there's action
there.

terre haute, Indiana. last time i was home the guy to beat was STILL Dave Edwards... from what i understood he used to have a national title or two under his belt in 9. he doest stray from 8 or 9 that i know of, but the man can play them well. as far as i know he'll bet fairly high(a bag of sand or two in a race), but you might want to try alternating breaks so you get a shot.

also in Schaumburg, IL outside of chicago theres a guy named mike that can be found in a league on mondays a the pyramid - he'll be about the same as dave so far as i know, but doest like to play for less than 500 jelly beans in a matchup. he can run a rack or two, but i've never seen him string em together. 9 ball that is, same with 8

then theres me, Logan. i can be found on mondays and tuesdays at the pyramid, or any other day of the week you want to match up, but i'm going to need some weight! i'll always shoot a race to 3 for 10 or 20 beans though, as long as the game is fair. if your in the area pm and we'll play.

Hey Logan, What and where is the pyramid, and does anybody there like to play one pocket ?

Joey, I could be wrong, but I think Emeryville is next to Oakland, California - also I think the Broken Rack is the poolroom where Billy Palmer plays.

Logan if I ever get out that way I will look you up.

Thanks,
JoeyA
