JoeyA,
Don't worry, from your performance in the AZB Giveaway Tournament at DCC I'd say your stroke is much like a license to print money.:) :)

In Indy, there are quite a few players willing to match up for sets up to several hundred with any of the roadies that have been through. Our heaviest hitter has bet up to 10K of his own on sets (it seems its always the roadie that quits).

I'll match up with ANYBODY for up to a hundred a set (if I have the time); more ONLY if I feel I have a real chance. I found some short guy named Efren at DCC who played me for a hundred; I almost got him (well, at least I made a few balls). Some skinny kid named Johnny Archer hustled me 3 straight games at 14.1 last year; he was pretty good, too.

I definitely am planning on pursuing some one-pocket lessons so I might get a little more action.

Good luck with the re-building, sounds like a complete nightmare.

Now that's the life, Al. May nothing ever change and may your parents live forever.

Be sure and tell Corey to drop by Buffalo Billiards in New Orleans when he is passing this way. "Buffalo" said he would love to have Corey come visit and pass a good time. (You're invited to, just leave SOME of your money at home. :-)
Warm Regards,

The problem I see that you have is insurance taxes, living expenses and diapers. Now I have a full time job that pays okay but the difference is I still live with mommy and daddy so there goes insurance taxes, and living expenses. I don't own a car or have any kids so no expenses there. So, pretty much what I make at work is able to be gambled with. The other things I do different is when I'm not working or sometimes when I'm still at work I love to exploit my friends for money. So if you find someone that will let you live with them for free and friends that will let you profit from there hard work you should be able to gamble more than $50 a set.;)

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Thank you princess.

Maybe I can help with the one pocket lessons. A hundred dollar set ought to do it. :-)

And thanks for the sentiment. Your sign-off sounded like Keith McCready's famous line.

JoeyA,
In my feeble attempt at humor, I neglected to answer your initial request for details; here goes:

Williebetmore; playing for only 4 years, but lifelong fan of the game. Will play any game - never played one yet he didn't like - for up to a hundred a set. Will play for a little more with players whose speed he knows (won't play with that sandbagging JoeyA). Like JoeyA, the elderly Betmore likes races; doesn't have the time for ahead-sets. Prefers straight pool and surprisingly has convinced a fair number of roadies and pro's to play (I think perhaps they take one look at his stroke and figure they have a Hungarian cinch no matter the game).

Prefers to play in his basement (troglodyte tendencies), but thankfully his basement is nicer than your pool room; and his wife can occasionally be coaxed into providing gourmet refreshments (guaranteed to be interesting, and often edible). Prefers continuous banter and trash talking, but can be silent for minutes at a time if you prefer to play in silence. His ONLY requirement is that the game must be enjoyable - poor sports and A-holes will not be played again, even if he has the nuts.

Samiel does this Clicks have a service counter slightly straight ahead and slightly to the right as soon as you come in the front door with most of the pool tables to the left as you walk in the door. If that is the one, I've been there when I was getting some State Farm Insurance flood adjusting training just after the storm. One fellow I forget his name must have been about 28 or so played me a little one pocket for $20 a game I think. Not a whole lot of players when I was there. They tell me that Joey Barnes hangs out there quite a bit....

Did you say OLD DAYS? That made me smile. How long have you been around? ;-)
JoeyA

Samiel said:
Well, if you're ever in Arlington, TX, stop by Click's Billiards. There's usually a little action to be had... but not as much as the old days...

Thats just the way he thinks after years of gambling at pool.........

Sounds like a nice guy, but a terrible gambler. I love having the nuts and like to get my money in when I definitely have the best of it, anything else is just stupidity.

By the way - He is a hugh winner at pool and gambling in general. Plays many games very well. Remember, you can't lose a lot, if you don't make a lot.

I gotta be the best action in San Diego (North County)... LOL

I don't mind losing a couple c-notes here and there, and any average A will drill my b ass to the wall.. LOL Easy action is there anything better?

As well I'm not the type of guy to ask for unreasonable spots if it's completely lopsided. I might ask for something, but people that ask for the 6 out oughta quit playing the game in my book, or atleast quit gambling becuase their killing the very spirit that makes the game fun.

The whole "I dunno what you got, and you dunno what I got" feeling is exactly what makes gambling fun in pool. Atleast to me it does.

All-righty then, make that one self-painted bullseye by DJ.

Surprises can be nice if you guess right and at the very least exciting and humbling. :-)
Thanks!

Terry sounds like he has heart to play the tough games and a big heart to help out someone who needs a little helping hand. I like the guy and probably will never meet him.

As I've said before - If you can't get a square Pool Gamble w/ Terry H., You need to find a new game to gamble on.
I personally have seen (more than you could imigine), Terry quit a game because he realized he had the nuts. He told the oponents, the game needed to be adjusted. Naturally they all thought he wanted to change it in his favor.
No, he wanted to change it to make it more of a fair game for both. He wanted to adjust it in favor of the oponent.
He dosen't want the nuts. He wants a fair game that offers a challenge. Don't get me wrong, he is trying to win and often does. When he finds himself up against The Nuts - He tends to Go Off - Thinking he can overcome the game by getting in stroke, And he has done that sometimes.
Once when he wanted to try to get a bad game because he liked the broke pool player but just wanted a good workout, he got pretty upset that none of the usual backers would back the player who was getting The Nuts.
Terry said "The hell with these so called backers, I got a good backer for you. The player says, great - Who?
Terry says - ME - Lets Go.
About half way through the 4 hour match - Terry ask Dean - You want to raise it from $30 a game to $50? Dean don't know what to say. Terry goes down to talk to Dean and says - Listen, I'm your backer, raise the bet and bust this sucker.
Anyone who knows Terry, (and many do) Knows were not talking chump change.
I've been around Pool & Gambling for over 46 years now and have never seen anyone like Terry. Or a better person to Gamble with at Pool.

Don't get me wrong - We have many other Missouri fine players & Gambling - It is just that Terry is the standout.

Well I'm an average (sometimes lil better then avg) B player, nothing to write home about.. I can put a few racks down on occasion, but I certainly wouldn't be claiming that's my avg or anything.. I just struggle to believe that everyone on this board is stringing racks like they claim. ;) I know there's alot of decent pool players out there, but damn it seems like everyone on this board is an "A." I say we break out the bankrolls n find out. LOL I'll be the one wearing the T-Shirt with the bullseye on it, and "sucker" underneath. ;)

Coool Corey. It would be fun to come back and visit DC. Maybe I could visit with Billy while I am there. I'll keep what you said in mind.

I think that, playing as a hobby, sounds like me. Of course, we learned that I need a good chunk of weight when you come through town. More generally, I'll play strangers at fairly low stakes (around the level where if I get smashed then I'm paying $20-$30/hour for a "lesson"). And I'll go higher when I'm pretty sure that the match isn't too lopsided.

There's others in DC that shoot better and bet higher, but I wouldn't feel comfortable posting their names. Send me a PM if you're coming into town and I can tell you who to look for. Joey--there's at least two people I shoot with fairly often that I'd love to watch you match up with in some 1P.

I once saw a piece of artwork by a famous current day painter where he painted a GREEN FISH head/body wearing a green business suit. I always wanted to do a T Shirt with that image and put in text under the image, "STAKE HORSE". :-)

Elderly people shouldn't gamble IMHO . They should save their money for their ungrateful children and grandchildren. :-) Besides, some young people might take advantage of you and your age.

JoeyA if your ever in CT let me know I would love some 1 pocket lessons. The few I got from you at DCC really sparked my interest. I also can help you find other action for higher stakes if you want.

Buffalos is on the south side of Airline Highway just a block or so west of the Causeway. It's about a block east of Church's Chicken. You'll like it.

In Canton, give Ben Zimmer a try for the dough.
Around Cleveland, aside from JR gay, there is the former owner of Shark Key , his name is dave, and Kenny K.

In Boston, there is plenty of action. Go to any weekly tourney in the area and you will find plenty of european immigrants who cut their teeth playing snooker and will give you a run for the money.
