I am new to the Jackson MS area, and haven't found any good Pool Rooms..
I was told by the Owner of Van Winkles rec room, that the Jackson area doesn't have tournaments... only a few bar table leagues...
I find it hard to believe that a city of 400,000+ ppl doesn't have a decent pool room...

I have been to the Green Room..... Kind of a joke IMO
they charge a $50 fee to play on 1 of 4 nine foot tables..
plus $8 per player per hour... talk about steep!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to hear from anyone who knows where the best rooms are...
TY Nate

I think you're out of luck man. I have only heard of Van Winkles and the Green Room. I live in Greenville, though. PM hemicudas, I'm sure he can help you out as he lives in that area.

Jon

thanks

N,

Like the other poster PM "HEMICUDA'S". His name is Bill, good guy who knows a lot about a lot. He would know what's happening down there.

In addition it sounds like there might be a VOID in that area that needs filling...

Michael's 43 in Camden if it's still there. They had a room full of bar tables in the back of a country store and I heard they got a Diamond or two since I've been there. They used to have tournaments too, once in a while, and they are friendly. It's in the stix and it's not fancy, but I don't think it's that far from you and it's probably cheaper than the Green Room. Reed (Pierce) has got a place in Byram, but that's on the other side of Jackson and I don't know if he's got big tables. What used to be the RACK is near Reeds but they got rid of their 10 footer and I don't know if they've still got any 9 footers, and their name has changed.

Where'd you see 400,000 people?

The place that alot of people refer to as Reeds, is Van Winkles, and according to the owner, Reed used to play there years ago but was never an owner... It is in West jackson
There was a Pool Room right down the street from Van Winkles, looks to be out of business.. Very tough neighborhood

TY for the info ... I will look into it...

P.S. I forgot to mention that I am looking to play on 9ft tables.....

I believe you are mistaken about Reed's place. Van Winkles is definitely a different place but you are right about that neighborhood. I posted the information about Reed's below. Some of the best steaks around also.

Reed Pierce's
6791 S Siwell Rd
Jackson, MS 39272

I will be in Jackson next week if you wanna get together and play some cheap 9ball (and by cheap i mean free:D )

I have been to the Green Room also and thought it was ridiculous also. They charged me to use a house cue. We can go there if we have to i guess.

ok, i fly in Monday night and leave Friday afternoon, so, Tuesday, Wed or Thursday is good for me.

See ya then

there's a place off Terry Rd in south Jackson called ThisIsIt, think they only have barboxes and one diamond table.

Hwy 43 North from Jackson, after you cross Hwy 17 is Michael's 43, 10 barboxes and one 9FT Diamond. Beer's cheap and the crowd is small on non tourney Saturday nights. Just had a tourney last Sat; don't know when the two per month tourneys will be in November...........d

BPG24, I'll post Michael's 43 tourneys for November as soon as they decide when and what type they're gonna have.

they vary their tourneys; usually have a 9 ball tourney early in the month and "whatever" later in the month. their phone # is (601) 267-5945, but don't expect the 'hired help' to know much...lol. If you try to call and get Michael or Sandy, they can give you info.

It would be nice to have some competition from Jackson's direction to come up and beat on a few of the locals. :D

Thanks d_flash......
Posting it would be great.....
and did you see my review of Reed Pierces new place?

Rep for your continuing efforts.....................................
