Best position to display a cue

If I were to buy/build a rack for my cue(s) to rest- would it be better to store them horizontally or vertically? Or is it just better to leave them in a case? I am super, crazy, picky about my cues so anything that could harm them long term is out of the question. My current plan is to place them in a case in a safe place, but as I plan construction of my pool room, I envision my cues on display in some way or other. But at the end of the day, cue preservation is my main concern.
Chris.

Imho, vertically would be ideal. Perhaps a larger version of this display case that I have.

Very nice!

I really like that case! Thanks for photos. That's exactly what I had in mind.

Horizontally in your hand as you are making balls and your opponent in sitting preparing to give you their money would be my suggestion. Thats what I do with mine.

That's a nice case but your shaft has black marks all over it. A Magic Eraser and some fine-grit sandpaper will take those right out.

Always vertically. It's best to also not have them stored along/on a wall that is an outside wall of your house. Also a good to not have them in a basement, unless the basement is such that the humidity and temp is very constant.

All my cues are stored vertically. Even the cues in cases.

Sometimes a cue or shaft will get warped no matter how you store them. But vertically is the way I do it.

I had an expensive Joss cue stored (laying flat) in a case on the top shelf in a closet for a while. I checked it out after being there for a long time and the butt no longer rolled straight. I then stored it vertically for a long time and it magically became straight again.

Hang email high

Best way to store cues would be to hang them. I've had an idea for a cabinet where it contained a thin rod like you have in a closet, then modify some cheap Derlin joint protectors with hooks on the end. Attached the jp's on the cues, hang, and voila!

Great advice about where in the house to store them.

I would display them like samurai swords are displayed. Lots of reasons why and they could definitely add to the conversation.
