Hey All,

New here currently live in South Florida by the Keys I go up to shoot at HOLLYWOOD Billiards right now as it seems to be the only serious pool room I can find down here. Anyways to get to the point I'm moving to Austin next year and I want to know what the best pool room there is. Where is the action and the people that are serious about practice etc. I need a good room that hopefully might also have a snooker table with a good golf game going, maybe a three cushion table. Also somewhere that you can find one pocket games. Regulars and less ball bangers. I'm going there in the last week of October and if anyone can tell me of such a place I'll go check it out. I want to live pretty close to a good room this next time I move. Thanks everyone.

Austin doesn't have any snooker tables anywhere that I can think of. The room with the best equipment hands down is G-Cue Billiards (north Austin). They have 14 or 16 9ft Brunswick Gold Crown IV's with aramith pro balls and measle cue balls. All of their tables just got refelted for the Texas Open. They also have a heated 3-cushion table. IF you are in town and want to be oriented to the pool scene in Austin check out GCue on a Wednesday night and you will find at least a couple of the top players in Austin there.

The Grand (near downtown) usually has a decent amount of action but G-Cue definitely has the best equipment and lots of good player frequent that location.

Thanks for the info Cris I'll be sure to go check them both out when I go to Austin on my scouting trip. That's a shame that no one has a snooker table.. that dashes my father's retirement dreams of playing golf all day 5 days a week. lol

I seem to recall a room called Earl's in Austin had a snooker table and a regular golf game with daytime action.

I was just there once while on business in the area a few years ago and played in there one night and noticed a snooker table and it seemed to be a "complete" poolroom. I think it may have been Belinda Bearden's (sp?) home room.

The place you were referring to was Eric's. It has since changed names to The Grand. Still a pretty good spot with occasional action but like Chris said G-Cue has the best equipment in town and some pretty good players lurk in there.

As much as I dislike the ventilation at G Cue, I must agree with Cris. Although the pockets are a little big for my taste, they do play good and have ball returns. I have never played on it, but there is a nice 3C table and there is a regular group of 3C players there. The Grand used to be Eric's, which was the place for players back in the day. They have several 9' GCIII's, but they need a lot of work done to get them up to snuff. Post back when you are coming and maybe we could meet up and play some.
