I have never been to the DCC. I have seen some streaming stuff, but have no idea how it is all set up. I would like to go look around at vendors and try out some custom cues and make a purchase. When is the best time to go for that?

Also, if I just wanted to catch a quick match or see some good amatuer action, when is the time to go and where? Thanks!

Anytime during the 9 days is good to go. If you are looking to buy a cue the earlier you go the better selection. Some times at the end of the week you can get a better deal on a cue but not always. However waiting can bite you, last year I was trying to hold out until the end of the week to get a Gilbert. On Wednesday, I walked by the both and it was gone. Spent the rest of the week wishing I would have got it on Friday when I got there.

As for watching a match I like middle of the week. The one pocket is winding down and the 9 ball is just starting. Also its not as crowded during the middle of the week. If your looking for action matches then usually the later the better, but from time to time you can catch some action during the middle of the day.

The weekends are the best, there are more people there on the weekends, and a lot more action. The best time to buy a cue is later in the week from a dealer that hasn't had a good trip that year and is willing to give you a deal. I have been going for the last ten years and I really haven't found a bad day to go.

Many of the cue makers have deals set up with certain vendors or other buyers for the cues that they don't sell during the event. If you want the best selection go early. Sometimes a seller will make a deal just to sell something no matter what.

Years ago 1971, I was looking for a TV. I was working midnights and I stopped at a store on the way home on a Monday morning. The back door was wide open from the rear parking lot and I walked in. The owner seen me and said he wasn't open until 9 am. I started to walk out and he called me back. I told him what I wanted and he gave me a price. I said that is the same as everywhere else and he asked are you really interested in buying? I said if the price is good yes. He said it is early and Monday, I want to make a sale. He he could give it to me for $350 instead of $390. I said if he could deliver it today for the Monday night football game he had a deal. I told him where I lived and he said he would try to have it there before noon. I hardly had time to get home and tell my wife that I bought a TV and the deleivery truck pulled up. He just wanted to start the week off with a sale to make the rest of the week good.

Sorry man, but, everything at the DCC I looked at was priced way high. I guess the 1K booth rental had to be made up somewhere. Trades seemed to be the rout to take from what I saw.
