Said pool cue is "Compare to Predator", but I'm feeling this IS a predator without the marketing and cue labels.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Either way, I would not be surprised.

I don't know if this is the case, but within my business, it's common to find same equipment from the same factory, sold direct from the factory, bypassing major distributors.

Nothing anybody can do, as the Chinese will sell to anybody, in almost any quantity, no matter how small. I've seen the Chinese sell to end users miles away from a US distributor who imports 1,000s of units, and heavily promotes the brand at his expense. I also get full color brochures and emails direct from the Chinese manufactures for equipment our major suppliers are shipping out of from NY.

That is not a Predator. The shaft appears to be a one piece maple shaft and as far as the butt goes you need to go back several years to find a non-uniloc joint. The shaft is marked "Spark" so it is obviously something different.

I'd bet the barn & the Buick that it's not a Predator. It's a knock-off made to look like a Predator. Predator BKs have a Uni-Loc joint. This cue has a threaded pin (14 or 18). It's deliberately designed to look like a Predator to cash-in on their success. Shame on you China.

I'm still interested in this cue; Is it of even decent quality?

My league teammates like to use my Sledgehammer I paid over $300, and believe you me they don't care for their equipment like I do. I'd rather have a cue I could lend that I could care less about to show up with for them.
 
Then grab a J&J J/B for under $100. My teamate has one and it hits great for what you pay. It has a phenolic combo so you don't need to worry about abuse causing a tip to fly off and it jumps as well as it breaks. IMO one of the best economy cues on the market.
 
There are really only a handful of things that happen on a break. Feel free to add to any of the ones I list:

1. Speed
2. Spin
3. Angle
4. Hop

All of these have more to do with the shooter's technique than the cue itself. I mean, most players want the ball to hit the rack completely flat (w/o spin, perfectly straight and without any hopping). I can't imagine there being a particular cue out there that's going to do this better than another. You just have to find one that's comfortable.
 
This is a Spark Break cue that comes with addtional weights bolts so that you can change the weight. I have not used one and/or seen one close up so I can not comment on the quality and/or playability of the break cue.
