Bigtime Betting on Pool Matches

In 2003 I heard that Thorsten Hohmann was a 100:1 underdog in the WPA World Nine-ball Championships in Cardiff and that he bet on himself. Anyone know how much he bet on himself?

Here is my question: where can big LEGAL bets be placed on pool matches? Las Vegas? London? Internet?

In Europe you can bet on the matches at many bookmaker shops and on the internet. Firms like Stan James, Ladbrookes and Betfair all will take large bets.

American credit card companies do not allow Americans to make these bets. Apparently the rest of the world is mature enough to handle gambling but not those of us here in the US.

Oh, wait, now I remember. Gambling here in the USA, where there is a casino on every corner, is immoral.

I understand your sarcasm. But, I do believe that the average person would see it differently, but the government has not gone into the business of gambling. They tax all the winnings. Here in the Carolinas, since the state has brought in the lottery, they have cut down on poker machines. Why? Because it's their competitor. Like all govenment revenues, they must remain a monopoly.
