not correct

No Bill does still work in the shop and does have some guys who work for him but he is still in there. We have been friends for a long time and I visit the shop regularly and see him working.

NOT so! Bill sold his business last year, to some people in Chicago. Call the shop and you will get answering machine with a womans voice. This voice would be Mrs. Ryan one of the new owners. Ask him and see what he says!
Thanks Dave

This is correct. The new owner's name is Bill Ryan, he owns Cue-Phoria pool hall in River Grove, IL. I play league with him. I don't have his number off hand but I can get it for you if you want to talk to the new owner and not Bill McDaniel himself.

Thank you lights_out (aka Steve), for the assistance on this one.
Please tell Bill Ryan, that David Airehart from Sacramento, California said hello. I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Ryan last year at DCC. Seemed like a very nice guy, enjoyed talking with him a few times since by phone and email. I have the Ryan's business phone number for the Mcdaniel Custom Cues Inc. in Chicago if anyone wants it!
Regards
Dave

If I understand this correctly, Bill Ryan, with whom I had one expensive dealing and he very much did right by me, is now the owner of Bill McDaniel Cues? If I were to order a new McDaniel cue, it would not be built by Bill at all? How will the subsequent quality of work and designs compare to what Bill has been able to put out and how will this affect the value, current and future, of Bill's cues if he no longer has anything to do with them? I would be very interested in hearing any informed opinions on this topic.

Thanks,
Ryan

i was under the impression that bill mcdaniel has sold all his cues that come out of his shop already... not that he's not making them... its just that a guy who a good investment, so every cue bill makes is already bought... so to speak.... sorry if i'm wrong....

thats the impression ryan gave me when i talked to him in chicago one night.

I'm not sure about this one. A good friend of mine, who works for Bill Ryan and manages cuephoria, just showed me what he called his new McDaniel cue that he just got from Bill Ryan. I don't know which Bill made the cue. I will say that the cue was beautiful and hit very nice.

It is my understanding the Bill McDaniel, and two of his associates do all of the cue making. I have never heard that the Ryan's are building cues. I belive that is a myth. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that a guy named Tommy and another gentleman named Jess do cue work alongside Bill. I just talked to Bill the other day and he is still doing some work. He informed me that he personally did some inlay work on a cue that I commissioned the company to do. I have heard that the cost of cues is significantly increasing. The Ryan's have raised the prices well over 25%. Furthermore, the waiting list just keeps getting longer and longer. There may be some truth to the fact that his cues are all sold before they are made. Sounds kinda like Black Boar cues. From what I hear the Ryan's are just the owners. Anthony

Hi Dave, do you have the McDaniel cues email for me? I need to verify whether one of my cues has ivory inlays or not.
