Bill Mcdaniel

Hmm i live in jackson TN and visit bills shop here a few times to see what he has to sell . He has done work on shafts and butts for both joss and scruggs i belive but has always been in jackson as far as making cues. As for some of the comments i see about his cues resale value being LOW, I dont know who your trying to sell them to but i have NEVER had a problem getting my money back out of one of his cues and more times than not i make money selling a McDaniel cue.

Oh and HIYA All first post here on the forums.

Ty for the welcome also i guess i better add in that i can buy McDaniel Cues ALOT cheaper than most since i played for him many years ago on a Bush league team and im a hometown guy which he likes to see playing with his cues. LOL .But still i can take a simple 4 point with no inlays and sell it at most tournys to other players for easy $500+ .

OK, here is the skinny on McDaniel- Scruggs lived in Jackson for awhile and worked for or with Bill. I had the same uninformed opinion of Bill's work as Bruin70(70-1 now) until I checked out his website-www.billmcdaniel.com. I found unique and one of a kind cues, and cues that surpass many of todays cuemakers highwater mark. Bruin, go ahead and check out his work and tell me you still have the same opinion. I was impressed with the Kling cue, wish I had an old brunswick table and the matching cue. The sliver work, especially the silver bracelet was fantastic, I see no other cue with this ringwork. I was equally impressed with the diamond inlayed cue, very tastefullly done. The Romeo and Juliette cues reach and surpass Bruins challenge to take it to the next level. I would like to know if the gentelman who is selling Bill's 4 pointer is referring to a hustler cue? I think if you are selling them at tournaments(which ones I would like to know) for $500.00 you cannot possibly be referring to a 4 pt. veneer cue.I have seen many examples of his "MacAttack" that have highly figured BEM forearms, very nice and worth the $500.

Hey there spintheball yes the ques i can pick up and sell for $500 fairly easily are 4 point venered wrapped quest 1 shaft steel joint not one of his sneaky petes. We have a mcdaniel sneaky right now at the pool room that was just sold for $325 it lasted 2 days in the display case. You must remember we live here so we have the ability to goto shop and check out his extras laying around and pick them up cheap enough so we can make alittle extra on them by selling them.

we dont try and give away bills cues for little or nothing but the plain janes we try and move them fast . looking at buying a Mcdaniel from another guy later this week that is a 6 point with ivory spear points veneers black with white spot wrap with ivory inlays in the butt may post that up and see if anyone is interested in it but it wont sell for $500 hehehe. Also you say you lived here send me a pm with your real name i bet we know each other.

Jebell,
I didn't say I live there, but when you get one of those plain janes you want to move, how about posting it here for us az'ers to take a look. I am familiar with the 6 pt design but the 4 pt veneer for $500 is the one I am interested in.

Lol, out of his 5 one-of-a-kind cues 4 are variants on the same basic concept... yea most custom cue makers tweak a design, but they don't call them one of a kind necessarily... I think that is one thing that kept me from buying a McDaniel is that I always see the same model for sale... I do not know anything about the hit of his cue...

Point well taken, Chuck. As far as the hit, we can turn to Nick,Moro,Karen,Julie, and many other pros who used his cue when they had to decide what to play with. I realize that they had to make the move when greener pastures presented themselves. I believe Juie Kelly is still playing with the same model look you are referring to.

AB, you are close to McDaniel country, got any of those $500 4 pt veneer cues for sale?

I've already said that he is the most underrated cue maker out there for playability and for workmanship.

Black Boar and McDaniel are my top two. If you want an OVER-RATED cuemaker look no further than Gutierrez...
