Watching Amadeus for the first time in a long time. Noticed they had billiard chalk on the table in one scene where Mozart was composing on a very small billiard table. Pretty sure this is a mistake, why would there be chalk in that era? Didn't they play with maces or whatever then? Pre-1800 scene.

Mozart was born is 1756, so the time of this movie scene was around 1780.
Cue tip invention by Captain Mingaud estimated at between 1807 and 1823.
Carr is often accredited as introducing chalk in the 1820's.
Mozart placed 2nd in the 1787 EPSN Trick Shot Masters behind Benjamin Franklin.*
Knowing that movies are almost always historically correct, eg. George Orwell's 1984 and the Terminator Series, it may be time for some historical revisionism of billiards based on this new Mozart finding
