billiard rail cloth

When I redid my sogaard, the some feather strips had nails in them

I would guess they did this to help stretch it as tight as possible, heard from several people that billiard cloth is to be stretched to near tearing point

Or they did it because the channels were so damn chewed away on the ends it was the only way to keep it in there

On a NEW table would it really be just a horrid idea to use a nail in the feather strips on each end, to help the stretching?

I know I'm not going to be given an answer that I'm looking for,so I'm just going to do it until I figure it out, or someone offers advice

, I just did my own cloth on my sogaard ,I did the whole setup from nothing

I used Royal Pro, supposedly doesn't need as much stretching because it's much thinner ,also cheaper, than simonis 300

Well I stretched it as good as anyone with no experience would,

Table angles play a little long, which I'm told, atleast the players around here, don't mind it long
If shortens in a few weeks, hopefully it won't go short, it'll just be normal
But sogaards have a reputation for playing long to begin with

The one complaint I've heard of it I see pretty quick is the wear on the cloth being that it's so thin

Doesn't bother me, but commercial use tables and room owners are another story
