Billiards Business Liquidation Sale

From what i could find out is that its a family business and they are retiring. They had a good run, over 40yrs it looks like. There are plenty of these places still open and making money. I wouldn't read too much into one place closing.
We just do not have places like this. The Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub places that sell tables are as close as we have.

Pool rooms thrived for a large part because of all the GI's that came home post WW2. Lot of single guys that really didn't want a 9-to-5 lifestyle. There are a lot of factors that caused the poolhall culture to change/die. Times change. the way it goes.
What about the whole turn of the century and depression era, with the reported head line "Pool Hall Burns, Hundreds of Men Homeless"?

My point was "where can kids play?".

We have a bunch of Dooly"s bar/poolrooms here in the east coast of Canada. A junior program was started and kids can go learn to play from 10:00 am till noon on weekends. I'm not sure how much participation they're getting but it's a step forward for pool

I tried to get the grandkids interested 12 and 13 year olds but one wants to play his video games and the other is to busy facetiming or whatever she does in her room all day.

Kids are small humans and run by the same rules -- they want to belong. It takes something extra to cut from the crowd. In school, kids discuss video games. You will never hear "I ran a three-pack this weekend".

We all live on a lake and all the kids around here are like fish in the water when they decide to go swimming lol. Our friends little one is 6 or 7 and got up on her 2nd attempt at water skiing. I'm pretty sure she'll be telling her friends about that lol.

Unless you get directly involved as in buying cues, providing places to play, etc. kids won't play. Its just not on modern kid's radar screens. I do think its changing but at a glacial pace at least in the US.

I think they all got cues etc donated and there were quite a few kids in the pic when I first heard about it. I wish I could spend some time helping ( health) there on the weekends.

Biloxi boy is right to a certain extent. I have noticed a trend with the younger crowd.
On discord, friends ive played with in the gaming world. there are lots of 18-30 year olds that dont ever leave the house, never been to a concert or a large party with friends. they dont like talking on the phone with people and wont go anywhere with a crowd.
Its like a condition of how they have grown up. and it is sad how much they miss out on.
I've also heard the same thing about old friends i used to go to the bar or pool hall with, same thing. someone will say yeah they dont come out for anything anymore.

In the small town I live near has a boys and girls club , in other words a place for kids to go after school , pool tables and foosball tables are common here in Montana .

Okay. I pulled a "Garczar" and telephoned the outfit that held the sale. I was told sales were good, with some large sales to table mechanics, but there is still much merchandise left. The next step is an online "auction". They said they will not be responsible for shipping, but if we arrange it, they will assist/accommodate. (I did not get into details, so I would advise getting the details ironed out before bidding. The man I spoke with was very pleasant and more than willing to help, but no one needs issues that flow from a failure to inquire/communicate.)

A NOTICE should be posted on estatesales.net within the next day or two.

And, for the record, I am now "in it to win it", so as they say in the squared circle, "protect yourself at all times". lol

ROUND TWO . . .

This stuff is too big/bulky to mess with shipping. don't blame them a bit. If i lived anywhere close i'd be there with a trailer and a wad of $$.
