Birdseye...believe it or not!

I guess you are right in a way. If people are going to buy it, why not build it. That's good business but I would not want the product, like this cue, in someone's hand once the decals start falling off. If you are going to do it, do it right.

All that aside, if you find a decal that blows my mind, I'll eat it.

Nah, there is no nutritional value in wood. I wouldn't want to put flaky cues in people's hands either. Some cuemakers do the decals right with several layers of finish after the decal has properly set. Others do it wrong and pop the cue in the UV booth ten seconds after the decal is applied.

I guarantee you though that I have some decal cues which you or any other cue maker would be hard pressed to tell if it's real wood or not. The other day I had a cue maker comment on the nice pieces of turquoise in an OEM cue we are doing for someone. Decals, but he couldn't tell.

The resolution on these is getting so good it's really hard to tell.

What I CAN'T stand is the sellers who claim that the cue is all inlaid - or they insinuate it - when it's half decals. That one pisses me off because it's unfair to the consumer and unfair competition for the sellers who aren't lying about their cues.

I have a friend in Germany who is also a cue repairman/cue maker. His name is Hans Jorg Bertram. Once I was in his shop and I saw a prominent brand of cue where the points were half gone. Hans Jorg said that the company that made the cue must have a good relationship with Edding (the German version of Sharpie).

If you are that confident, send one to me and I'll be the judge.:D

I do get your point. Now, look at it from a cue maker's perspective. Veneers or faux wood on a guitar do not affect the playability of the electric guitar. Veneers or faux wood do not affect the driveability of a BWM. You get my point. Cues are an acoustical instrument. Neophyte players may not initially know the difference between this "cue" and a cue made with real birdseye. BUT, in time they will.

FWIW, I love cues like this. For everything that is cheaply made, there is someone making a living by fixing it.
