BK Rush Alternatives

I picked up a BK rush when they came out and love it.

What exactly is it about this cue that makes it break so well and has anyone made a cheaper alternative? I'd love to have one for a travel cue.

I use a BKR+ myself and find that its one of the best breakjumps on the market money can buy
One cheaper alternative that I've tried recently was a little monster carbon break cue, about USD150 but breaks really well too..
Only issue was the weight, it didn't have weight bolts to allow me to reduce the weight to what I'm used to but it still broke really well

I was a rush fan before, but now prefer the Cuetec Breach over the Rush. I like the slightly smaller diameter (12.75 vs 12.9), I also prefer the Breach's more conical taper (helps me be a bit more consistent in my bridging location when trying to dial in a tweak my break based upon conditions). Also, If I need to jump full cue, the Cuetec Breach jumps far better than the BK Rush, and I believe transfers a bit more power. The only thing I wish the Breach had was a sport wrap. All of the above mixed with the Breach being $100-150 cheaper makes it my break cue of choice.

I can't believe the timing of this post. Today, the tip on my BK Rush just flew off as I broke a 9 ball rack. (!) This stick is less than a year old! This is my second BK Rush. I sold my first one after playing with it for several years w/o any problems. I saw another post somewhere on here where the OP had the same thing happen to his tip on a fairly new BK Rush. I believe the latest run of BK Rush's might have defective tips. When the BK Rush first came out I never heard of this happening. I've heard Predator will replace the tip if you send them the shaft but I'm not going to wait weeks or months to get my shaft back. They are notorious for slow turnarounds.:mad::mad:

Happened to mine. Actually, the tip plus the V-TEK silencer flew off in one piece. Luckily, the vault plate was still intact. I had someone replace the tip with a Samsara break tip and I am happy with it. Predator did send me a replacement V-TEK silencer which I still have. Their turn around has been good for me when I had work done by them.

My tip actually split. A layer or two went flying while the remaining layers remained. I also am having the Samsara tip installed. Used one before the BK Rush came out and was very happy with it. And that was on a wood shaft. It should be awesome on the BK shaft.

Mine is over two years old, and I lost the tip on a break within the first couple of months. Replaced it locally with a bulletproof tip and haven’t had any problems since.

Gotta say, I like the new tip better too…
