The cue is a Black Boar RS-1 but the inlays were added by an as yet unknown cuemaker.
Please help identify or speculate as to who might have done these inlays.

You'll probably never find out who did these inlays and, frankly, it doesn't really matter. #1 - It wasn't Tony. Period.
#2 - They are very poorly done, poor work. Most any rookie cue maker hack could have done this.
This BB has been aesthetically ruined. That's the unfortunate truth. If your buddy wants to sell it, it's best to be clear about the state of things, accept whatever offers you get, and take what's offered.
I'm afraid this is likely as good as it's going to get.
I wish you the best of luck - this is a shame.

''bb''...........

Yeah,,,,for some strange reason, people liked to mess with ''BB'''s,,,

Tony told me that the first thing to change on a ''Boar'' were the shafts as they are so desireable that they would be sold on the ''QT''..

Things like that completely negate what a ''BB'' really is all about,,,,,

If you've never seen his site,,,,check out ''Black boar custom cues.com''.....the info will blow you away about all the physics that goes into an authentic ''Boar''...

Just a thought. I would send it to Tony, and see what he could come up with, on a new design, that would cover all this other guy's stuff, and get it back to a true Black Boar. I would think would think Tony would work with you, on this, but remember it will cost some ca$h.

If you send it to Tony, I wouldn't be surprised if he promptly cuts it in half.

I was thinking at least in half if not three or four pieces. What a shame to ruin a classic player with those hienous inlays. You could probably save the points by putting longer sharp ivory spears over the current ones and then maybe replacing the butt end of the cue.

WOW... Looks like they were inlaid with Etch-a-cad.. the very first cad machine where the x and y were run by two white knobs...

Seriously I can think of a few ways to save the cue. You could have ivory points recut into the ebony and the bottom could be cut into small and large ivory boxes. If Tony was to do the work, he could hack off the ebony and start over...

I do not know him but if this was my cue I would not touch it. Your friend could take what it would be worth without the inlays, cut that amount in half twice, and ask 500 less than that, and you may find a buyer here. I think he would have better luck selling to someone that does not know much about cues, as wrong as that sounds.
