hi,
any of u guys can help tell me how much the starting price for a black boar is? someone is seling me a bushka style 4point(3 veneers) and ivory-diamond crosses in the points and butt. it looks similar to this bushka cue http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21212&item=7160132657&rd=1
thank you. btw the person is asking me $2000 for it.

if it looks like that bushka......2000 is a deal for it. USED black boars, with no veneers, not inlays........no NOTHING........are going for 1500-2000. black boars are HOT HOT HOT. you have to go through lucky to get a new one for the next few years.

thanks

It's a tough call on the value. Black Boar's are expensive now because he only does fancy cues. I would say they price similar to comparable Mottey cues.

The old ones go for less. I've seen the simple 4 point early BB cues go for $1200 if it has the BB logo with the boar's head. The later cues, and the fancy cues are a lot more money. If it's a pretty average cue, I would say $1500 - $2000 would be the going price. $2000 could well be right for the cue you've got there.

Rich at Susie Q sold one like that not too long ago - here:

He's a very nice guy and knows the market pretty well - why don't you e-mail him and ask him what he thinks that cue is worth?

Tony does not just do fancy cues. He's doing alot of simple, mostly ebony 8 point in birdseye that have one upgraded aspect...like a fancy butt cap, or fancy rings or joint.

My everyday playing cue is a plain-Jane boar...very simple...8 alternating high-low ebony points, leather pigskin wrap with the scoring lines top and bottom, all ebony butt with no inlays, 8 point ivory butt cap and the silver BB logo. Of course it has the ivory-sleeved joint. This plain style is about $2800. Go up from there.
