Black Crown I - new cushions, tighten pockets

Just thought I would see if anyone has any input.

I'm replacing cushions (and cloth, pockets) on my 9FT Canada Billiards Black Crown I

So far it looks like the Superspeed K55 cushions are the way to go.. but I have seen a lot of people talking about the other K55 variants (Artemis, tour edition, etc) - thoughts?

I want to make the pockets around half an inch tighter - would it be best to extend the subrail with wood, so I can extend the cushions and use thin pocket facings, or just use thick facings?

Lastly.. anyone have a good Canadian source for Superspeed cushions? I'd like to avoid the exchange rate and shipping headaches if possible. I'm a table mechanic as well, always looking for new suppliers.

The proper way to tighten the pockets to retain playability is to extend with wood and use 1/8" or 3/16" facings. If you stack facings the pockets will play dead. As for the rubber, I went with Diamond Black on my Gold Crown I and I love the way they play.

That's what I was thinking, especially for the side pockets. I don't want to use the thick shims because they'll make the points play funny.

I saw that some people use the black diamonds in other threads about this. So far that's my second choice, just wanted to see some opinions on them. Artemis is pretty much out of the question, I've seen too many people say they hate them

I actually took a screenshot of this in one of the other threads! That's exactly what I'm planning on doing. The only thing about yours in particular.. the sides of the pocket look pretty much parallel, rather than a little wider at the opening of the pocket. Was that intentional?

I figured it was.. hard to tell from the pic

how do you like the HR? I have 860HR for my table once I get the cushions figured out, was on the fence about weather to go with HR though. Does it burn less? Is the speed difference between HR and regular 860 noticeable?

I don't know about burning less, there are still burn marks. It is slightly faster than 860. Depending how much you play, 860HR should last 5-10 years on a home table.

I have a Black Crown for a number of years and in the last couple of years had a hard time keeping it level . Noticed that the levellers on the legs of the table have collapsed.Wondering where I can get leg levellers to replace them that will not collapse.

These guys should have what you're looking for.

They are super helpful on the chat thing in their website as well if you have any questions.
