Black History and Billiards

August Wilson is a black author. If there is a story or writing about black Americans in the pool room, I may be able to secure funding and talent for a great black pool movie.

The Color of Money is good for mainstream audiences. However the black community has never had their story told on the silver screen. I am hoping Cisero Murphy would be mentioned in personal narratives, journals or other accounts.

If you can provide any info, its appreciated.

Does anyone have knowledge about Gilbert's Billiards?

Rights for Cisero Murphy movie has been secured, big names are attached.

August Wilson carries more weight than Cisero Murphy. If August Wilson played pool, then advertising money will be spent to make it big.

The eventual Cisero movie simply must include instances of Cisero's marvelous deadpan humor.

I can't resist relaying this cute, so-typical instance of it, which the black uber-talented, national-class player -- Rags Woods -- told me about, many years ago (I'm having a laughing fit as I type it out here):

The US Treasury had radically updated (for counterfeit suppression) the C-note. One of Cisero's buddies raced over to Cisero and whipped one out:

"Hey Cis, you seen the new hundred dollar bill?"

"Man, I've never seen the old one!"

I shouldn't respond to this thread. But just in case anyone accidentally clicks.

Here's a short documentary on the intersection of pool and jim crow:
