Blackheart Break Tip

Hey all,

I am thinking about putting a new Blackheart E-Class Conan tip on my break cue (a bk2). I hear that the blackheart tips are pretty good in general, but have never heard about or seen this particular model in action. See link (scroll to bottom).

Does anyone have experience with these and can offer some insights/reviews?

Thanks.

I guess no replies means no one has tried it, so I'll offer my experience.

The tip is definitely not as hard as other break tips out there (e.g., samsara).

When it was first installed, I was actually quite disappointed. The hit was dull and I was not getting much action. After I took the tip down a little though, it played much better. I think it gave a much harder/crisper hit after I took the tip down to about 1/2 of the size. It might sound strange, but that's just my personal take. It also grip the ball much better. I was getting a lot more action from the cue ball off the break (compared to a phenolic tip), so I had to adjust my break slightly. The tip is growing on me and I am learning to break better with it.

Overall, I think it plays okay. It's not my favorite, but it isn't too bad (once you take it down a little). It's worth a try if you play more of a control break. If your goal is to smash the ball, however, I'd look elsewhere.

Cheers.
