I am having Ron Kilby build me another laminated 3-C shaft,(great shafts),so I sent him an Onyx tip and it delaminated on install.so I want some opinions on Black jack and Blackheart tips. Blackheart looks interesting and has anyone tried the blackheart x/o-25 bespoke $100 tips? Liked the Onyx but want to try something else, thanks

Please do post a review when you try them. I don't know of anyone using them myself.

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought you must be kidding about $100 tips. So I looked it up. It's the Black Heart XO-85 tip -- "Matured since 1985." The web site description almost reads like a parody: http://www.bhtip.com/xo-85/

Maybe they're the holy grail of tips and we'll all be lusting after them pretty soon; maybe not. Has anyone here ever used one or heard of anyone using one?

You probably have to use $25 chalk to make them work

I've tried Blackheart mediums.
Very good tips IMO
If you like Tiger Onyx, you should like Blackheart medium

The "Mediumistic" lists for $30 -- a relative cheepie! But I want to hear about that $100 Extra-Ordinary XO-85.

Most Americans have always desired to have the very best and they equate higher cost to better performance. A 4.00 tip must be twice as good as a 2.00 tip, a 20.00 tip must be 10 times better than a 2.00 tip. With a 100.00 tip you don't even need to play the game as your opponent will break his cue down and forfeit when he learns that you have such a magical tip. There is an old term used that there is a sucker born every minute and it fits so well with all of these players who fall for every new gimmick that comes down the line that they believe will make them a great player while they sit in front of their computer. Heaven forbid that the best gimmick available but so seldom used is practice. I guess it is just over my my feeble brain as I can't understand how Mosconi, Lassiter, Hoppi and so many other great players could make balls before all of these, can't live without, innovations came about. It must be that all of their accomplishments must surely have been embellished over the years.
