Blotchy Eboney

I think this has happened to me once before too but last night I sealed a cue with Devcon 5min and there are some almost florescent green blotchy areas in the eboney. These areas appered with in minutes of applying it. I don't remember what I did the last time to fix it. I'm sure I'll make it through this one to. Just wondering if anyone else has had this and what might be the cause. What is the main reason most like West for sealing?

Thin, Clear, Settles nice, easy to apply, and gets harder than 5 minute...

I've never sealed my Qs. I sprayDupont Chromaclear on with the 1st pass medium to light, wait 2 minutes, spray 3 passes of medium wet coats. Wait 2 minutes & finish off with 3 wet coats. I can sand in 2-3 hours, but I usually wait til morning. Sand lightly with 400 then 600 then back in the paint booth for 9 more wet passes. In the morning I sand with 600, then wet sand with 1000 & finish off with wet sanding using 1500. 3 grades of Meguiar's(ending with #9) & I'm done. I'm not saying this is the only way, but it's the only way I've done it, for a lot of years...JER

Man,..... you shoot a lot of finish, at least compared to what I'm doing. Say I've just built a Pred. shaft, I'll bring it in at 3-4 thou. undersize.
Two sessions with 3 light to med. coats and I'm good to go. If I get lucky, I'm good with one session. Technique I guess. 500 to 1,000 Pred. shaft builds and it becomes 'old hat'.

Hi chris, like I've said before, I never had a mentor or someone to ask "how to", but I came from the body shop booth, where I was doing airbruch murals. I've measured my before & after finish & it's .020 +-...JER

0.010" the whole way around. That gotta look like you can stick your arm in the clear.
Jer using your method have you ever had a suckhole in a piece of wood? I did one like that spraying Wenge. I tried everythign dry coats wet coats ca the thing was like a hoover. When it was all said and done I think I had some place in the neighborhood of 35 coats of clear. Most of which I had sanded back off. I did seal the cue with sanding sealer prior to this happening. Freaked me out the first time I saw it...
