Blue Diamond Test Run

Russ,
I've heard that if chalk is kept under normal conditions for more than a few years, you can expect major moisture problems in the chalk, causing you to miscue with increasing regularity. I would consider getting rid of that OLD, pre-flag chalk. It's probably not worth having.

The same thing goes for that Blue Diamond chalk. If you bought a case of that, you should be trying to get someone to take if off of your hands.

(So just in case you want to trade a case or two of that old pre-flag, high-moisture content Master chalk for some NEW, FRESH, MASTER CHALK, just give me a buzz) (I guess I would trade off a case or two of my NEW, FRESH Master Chalk just to help a guy out).

Damn Joey, I know you're a nice guy... but that offer is really hard to pass up!!!

If it weren't so expensive to ship Pre Flag Masters chalk due to the high lead content, I would take you up on your generous offer in a heartbeat. But I don't want to deal with the EPA and all that.

:)

Take care buddy!!

I am not surprised.

If Masters and Blue Diamond were made in different countries or different parts of this country, there most certainly should be a difference. But when they're made in the same relatively small building, by the same workers, by a company who regularly sells the same exact chalk under many different names already, should anyone really expect that much of a difference? :D

T (or anyone else for that matter),

Can you confirm Tweeten makes Blue Diamond? And, are you saying Triangle is exactly the same as Master?

I had always used Master; when I first started using the green it seemed different than the blue. Someone in a pro shop told me there is no difference between the colors, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, a buddy of mine who's always used Triangle brought me a couple of cubes one night and I really like it, as I do Master. I too seemed to miscue more with the Blue Diamond. I don't think it's the case, though it could be me attempting to apply too much english to test out the chalk, as someone suggested in this thread.

Bottom line is I see a noticeable difference between the three and I'm curious what the real differences are, if any.

I live just south of Chicago, so perhaps a trip to the factory is in order. :-)

Thanks for any input.

Scott

Here's a Longoni link that talks about their relationship with Tweeten.

I stopped by the factory when I was in the neighborhood a year or so ago and the best I could do was to talk to one of the shop managers. I don't think he would have told a complete stranger Triangle and Masters are the same if it was some important secret. Harley Davidson was another name he mentioned. There was also some name that is shipped to Asia that I forgot.

I suppose if Longoni is saying there is a difference, then there very well should be one, but I'm not completely convinced it is significant.

Thanks a bunch T. Guess I better try out some Harley Davidson chalk too! ;)
