This cue is one that Bob traded me in exchange for me designing/programming him a custom website. Let me start off by saying that before this deal started, I had never heard the name Bob Danielson in my life - and could only find one mention of his name here on AZ. So when he contact me to do a trade I had no idea what to expect. He sent me some pictures of his cues, and it was nice to see that he did really good work. He obviously has a large amount of talent. We agreed on the terms of the deal and I went off to make his site and he went off to make my cue.

Throughout the whole process Bob was very attentive and answered all of my (admittedly novice) questions in a timely manner. The very first thing he did was create a CAD drawing of the windows/rings of my cue and send it over to me so that I could confirm that is what I wanted. He had great customer service the whole time.

Specs on the cue:

Amboyna forearm with 4 veneered (black, red, orange, natural) ebony long points and 4 ivory short points
Ivory joint
Ivory butt cap
Ebony butt sleeve with 4 veneered ivory boxes
The butt of the cue is cored with a radially laminated purple heart core
Stitch rings at all positions
Two ivory ferrule shafts with matching rings and Kamui tips
The shafts are radially laminated and made by Bob

I received the cue last Thursday and have had a chance to play with it for probably 10-15 hours since then. I would call the way the cue hits "firm", but without feeling like it is dead. It has a really good balance between a firm/stiff hit and providing nice feedback to the user. The taper isn't a pro taper, but it's not like a euro taper either. It is somewhere in between those two, which is what I like. I love the shaft, in fact this is one of the best shafts I've ever hit with.

The fit of everything on the cues is very good - all the points line up, the veneers are great, the rings are beautifully done, and the mitered veneers on the ivory windows are flawless. Everything lines up perfect - the rings, the points, and the windows.

It took all of about 2 minutes to get used to the cue, and after that I was shooting without even thinking about it. It just felt "right", the balance is close to my Sly sneaky (which was my player), but a little further forward, so that didn't take hardly any time to get used to. The biggest thing I noticed while playing (other than the hit) was the Kamui tip, which seems to put more spin on the cue ball and cause more throw. You have to adjust for that.

Overall I am very happy with the cue, and there is nothing I would change on it whatsoever. This cue is everything I wanted it to be and more.

Thanks for all the hard work Bob!!!

Thanks for the nice words, Zach and I hope you enjoy the cue for many years. Also want to tell people to check you out if they are looking for a new website. Really appreciate the fine job you did on mine.

I just wanted to say that now that I've had the cue for almost two weeks I'm even more attached to it. The cue is absolutely wonderful and the design attracts people from the other side of the pool room. Everyone that has seen it has commented on it.

Bob did more than hit it out of the park with this cue - he hit a grand slam!

the cue is nice looking,my vision is poor but I was wondering how thw veneers were done? mitred or otherwise?I am not trying to be critical,in fact it appears to be a great cue.Pretty woods, what little or great amount of work you did, will seem like a bargain as you enjoy this treasure

keep enjoying your new cue

Dean,
The forearm, handle and butt sleeve are sleeved over a 6-pie laminated core. The points and windows are all cnc, done after the pieces were sleeved, so the veneers are mitered.
