For those who have visited bobs dzurickys site you see he offers a point jig to cut your 3/4" inner point squares in half. Well I recieved mine and this think is the nuts. Yes it seems complicated at first but when u get in front of the saw and follow the few directions it is easy. It will pay for itself in 2 or 3 cues. With black ebony being like 35$ a square now you get 2 full cues out if a square instead of one.

I did find out my saw is a bit retarted. The fence is only on the left side but my saw table only tilts to the right 45 deg. So I have to run it backwards and up side down but it's deff worth it.

If you don't have one I reccommed you contact bob and get one. For 60$ it's unbeatable.
 
I had the same problem with my new saw Dave. Just have a piece of wood about 1.5" wide I slide between the jig and the fence. I was going to email Bob and ask him to make me a wider one, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

The jig is great though. Saves a lot of money and makes it's easy to use. It pays for itself in about a day.
 
Yea the saw is a bit goofy but there isnt a more powerful saw 14" on the market. ESP for 575$ I can always clamp a piece of wood or something. I actually run did a few upside down and that wasn't awful. If I had to do it like that forever I would. easier and better then a full square then hacking off the excess any way and then turning round.
 
Funny, I had seen his jig before, and was just thinking about purchsing one the other day. I know that the details are on his web site somewhere, but I did some looking around and couldn't find it. Could you post a link Dave?

Yeah, that jig is simple and effective. I know it has saved me some cash by minimizing waste.
 
Bob is a machinist and cue maker by trade. He runs under the radar so to speak as you seldom hear his name mentioned which is a pity by the way. Being a true machinist, he is used to working with very close tolerances and he is very creative, on top of everything else he is very friendly and doesn't mind sharing his knowledge with the rest of the cue making world. He has helped me with problems more than once and I only wish I could at some point return the favors. Although there are others, he and Mike Webb are two of the really good guys of cue making. All of this being said, you can also, by using this or a similar jig and 3/4X3/4 stock, get 4 points out of the same piece of stock if veneers are being used.
