Bob Flynn Denali Cues?

Picked up one of his cues randomly in an online auction and previously had never heard of him.

Does anyone have any experience with this maker and his cues.

Does anyone know if he's still in business?

Not still in business. I believe he got out of the game years ago. I bought some of his last pieces of Brazilian rosewood in 2017.

Bob's website is still up and running. www.denalicues.com
Bob made full length core cues, all made with a purpleheart core. He's prices was very reasonable.
I'm pretty sure the finish was CA, which I'm honestly not a huge fan of, but all in all it was a very good product considering the price.

looks like that site hasn't been updated in a long time. he's gotta be in his 80's at least. UD: he's 87.

Picked up two lots of cues no makers identified but I could tell at least one was a McDermott Envy.

Turns out the other three were each a Bob Owen, Mike Lambros, and the last was the Bobby Flynn.

The Owen was very fancy and is still listed on his website:

Just heard back from Bob on FB turns out that cue was a custom build for a guy trying to match his BBC Pargon pool table. Main construction wood was Red Wood burl and all the MOP is gold lipped.

Damn Iove cue hunting on the Internet!

I think he still makes cues. Tried several of them a few months back made of all kinds of different wood combinations. Just unusual hardwoods for shafts like ebony, oak, purple heart, olive, bamboo. Experimental? Different feel and aesthetics than I normally look for. Was hard to get the position I was aiming for , but my cues are the opposite of what Bob builds for his followers so I can say I was just not skilled enough to adjust my play for his cures.

In 2014 he was 78, while not out of the possible I would be stunned if he was.

The two I have are solid cues with nice wood combinations, I've not hit them yet so I can't speak to feel and transmission but they seem nice.

BBC cues in the early 1900's had ebony noses spliced into the shafts. I have a Harvey Martin cue that one of the shafts is made from one of those BBC cues.

Four days ago. Bob is a Vietnam Vet. I believe a US Army soldier. Builds out of his house.

I very briefly played with about 10 of his recent cues made of all kinds of exotic hardwoods. Finish is definitely handmade looking. Not bad. All had elkmaster tips, very soft hitting cues. Very rounded tip shape. Shafts all on the stiffer side. Due to the super soft tips preferred by the owner (extra spin) I couldn't feel any difference between maple, ebony, laminated bamboo, purple heart shafts. They all felt the same.
He charges somewhere about $300 for his entry level cue and not that much more for his higher end cues. They are no points or inlays, but any combination of exotic hardwoods and plain rings you want.

I like hard hitting cues that ping like TADs and Bill McDaniel. Or, cues like Ginacue and Tascarella.
I also like some design in my cues, some notched mop diamonds and 4 points. Flynn designs are minimalist.

A Bob purple heart snooker cue.

I'm more of a...steel joint cue lover.

Watchprosite.com search for Dr No as in James Bond. Art goes to see Bob monthly and would enjoy taking you to Bob's West Covina shop. Art is a big fan of Bob's work and has a big collection of his cues made in just about any wood combination imaginable. Nice guy, passionate about Denali cues. Art is also a walking encyclopedia for wood.

I am using the mobile app so can't share direct links. There is an interesting discussion on Bob cue construction technique. Everything is cored with purple heart I think.
