Bob Frey Cocobolo Sneaky Pete FS

I have a Bob Frey cocobolo sneaky pete that I am reluctantly offering for sale.

The cue has 3/8 X 10 joint pin with a black phenolic collar, a white phenolic butt cap with the "F" logo, and a Moori III medium layered tip that is nearly new. The ferrule is Ivor-X, I believe. The coco is very nicely figured, and the points are even.

The shaft has never been sanded, and has the original diameter, which is approximately 13 mm, though I haven't ever measured it. There is no shaft blueing (I use tan chalk.), and the shaft is very, but not perfectly clean.

Weight is naturally just under 19 oz, but the butt is threaded for a weight bolt. I will include the original weight bolt with the cue, which will bring the cue weight up to about 19.5 oz.

The cue has been used, but is in excellent condition. There are a few minor scratches in the surface of the finish on the butt. There is also a small ding in the butt which caused the finish to lift from the wood in an area a little smaller than the size of a BB. A single drop of super glue was immediately applied to the dinged area to ensure the integrity of the finish in that area.

I have no pictures at this time, but will add them if I come across a digital camera.

Price is $325 shipped

Thanks for looking.

Things tend to sell better/fast, when the thread is accompanied with pretty pictures.:D

Another thing is being sure on the description.

Chris, did you buy the cue new? I'm very interested in the cue, but I don't like ivor-x ferrules. Is that what was requested to be put on the cue? If not, I doubt that Bob put them on himself. You say that you "think" the ferrule is ivor-x, but you're not sure. I'd like to know for sure what type of ferrule material was used.

Agreed, but I don't have a digital camera, and it will be a few days or longer before I'm around someone who does.

I bought the cue new from Cues N Things about 3-4 months ago.

The ferrule is what Bob Frey put on the cue originally. On their website, Cues n Things says that Aegis ferrules are standard. This cue, however, did not come with an Aegis ferrule. It is not linen based (which also rules out Ivorine 3), and resists chalk staining. My local cue repairman, a custom cue collector himself, agrees that it is most likely Ivor-X. Pics I have seen of Ivor-X match virtually exactly. Still, I cannot say with absolute certainty unless I can actually compare it to a known Ivor-X sample, which I don't have available.

Isn't a new Frey Sneaky only like $350?

Cuesnthings has coco with this joint for $325 plus shipping. That's what I paid for mine.

My mistake. I paid $325 before shipping, also. It was $355 shipped, plus the Moori installation.

Chris, don't tell me you are giving up the game. I was looking forward to get to play again when I come down at christmas.

I'm not giving up the game. :) My custom was completed since we last played, and I'm keeping it. I can't justify having both cues right now.

Let me know exactly when you'll be here, and I'll come back up from Orlando so we can play some. I'm looking forward to it.

The ferrule on the cue looks just like this one:

good to hear. Just a guess at this point but I think I'll be in Daytona the 24th-27th.

I have hit some balls with this cue and it is a fine example of a Bob Frey SP.
Goodluck with the sale.

Thanks for the kind words, Cliff. Hopefully we can meet up and play while you're down here. Perhaps I'll make a better showing. I've been practicing. :)

I like the Frey and would like to keep it, but textbooks are looking pretty nice right about now.

Some pics of the cue. The picture labeled points shows the two least even points.

Is it just the picture or did you damage the ferrule when installing the new tip?

There is a very small amount of discoloration of the the ferrule immediately below the tip, but it was there prior to the Moori being installed. I'm not sure what it is from, but I can only see it, not feel it, so it has never been a source of concern to me.
