Bob Frey: Don't sleep on him!

This weekend my buddy came in the poolroom, and he happens to have a nice collection of cues. I approached him with my usual introduction of, "What did you bring today?". On this day he had a beautiful, old 4 point Scruggs cue, but had recently purchased a new Bob Frey shaft for it. The shaft had a short ferrule, similar to a Predator, a Moori medium tip, and a nice long pro taper. This cue played PHENOMENAL! I'm used to a Predator, and this Frey shaft had minimal deflection and played better than my Predator. I examined the shaft closely while asking my friend, " Are you sure this isn't some new kind of advanced Predator shaft???" Needless to say, Bob Frey does killer work. I'm going to get in-line for one of his cues!

Yo, Matt,

If you have the time tonight, go to Cue Ball at Rolling Road and I will show you one of the best hitting cues and break cues that you can try.

Mind you, this is the ultimate in custom cues!!

I guarantee you that if you pull this cues out and put them on the table players will congregate around you with the WTF expression on their faces.

Let me know if you can make it, Clay will be there coz' he's very interested in these cues.

Also, when you break with the phenolic tip, it makes a very distinct "tick" sound, right?

Well, this cue does not make that sound and yet still breaks like a gorilla.

Matt,

I used to use a Predator 314 shaft until I purchased a Bob Frey sneaky pete. I liked it so much that I bought another one to get extra shafts (I have three shafts). One is ebony and the other is bacote. All have ivory ferrules and Sniper tips.

I have played with many production and custom cues and for me, the Frey sneaky pete is hands down the best hitting cue that I have played with. The balance and hit is fantastic! However, I like the feel of the bacote one better, perhaps because it is a little lighter.

I got Kevin Varney to convert my Predator 314 into a break shaft and it breaks superbly. If you have an old 314 laying around, send it to Kevin Varney. Trust me, it won?t be laying around any longer.

If I ever get another cue that is fancier, it will either be a Frey or a 3/8 10 pin custom cue that will fit my Frey shafts.

Oh, and I still need the wild 7,8 and the breaks. Keep that in mind in case you were interested. I don't ask for much.
