Bocote / Purpleheart

Both hit very solid due to the density of these woods. Bacote has more figure , purple not as much figure.
I think both woods are suitable for a great solid hit.

I personally think bocote offers more "feel" than purpleheart and I love the look. Actually, the particular piece of wood can make as much difference as the species.

Schmelke makes Purpleheart/Bocote full splice blanks. They hit like a tree trunk no matter what shaft you put on them.

Neither one of us owns those cues, but a friend of ours likes that wood combo.
Mike Webb has developed an affinity for that wood combo and I'm starting to see his point.
