Bonanza Re-run

I was in the Dr's office for a physical today, and was watching an old rerun of Bonanza... The brothers were all pinned down in a canyon by gunfire.
'Hoss' Cartwright pointed to some rocks telling his brother where one of the shooters were. His brother goes into a speil about how he furthered his education the summer before playing Billiards... "You see that rock Hoss? That's the cushion... and he's the object ball... This bullet is the cue ball." Then he shoots into a nearby rock with the bullet ricocheting off the rock and hitting the guy..
I started laughing and no one seemed to think it was funny. Whoever wrote that script was definitely a pool player.

Need more info...

Did Hoss use a kicking system, or did he just feel the shot? What brand gun did he use? Does anyone have a system for two and three rock kicks? If I use a heavier bullet, should I allow for the shot to shorten up? Thank you, I am only a "C" shooter.
