Do bookmatched squares work best for wrapless, or does it matter, as long as both pieces of stock are similiar enough? Is it just personal preference? Heres some stabilized bookmatched redwood and (cut from the same burl) buckeye burl.

Bookmatching would matter if you were glueing them up side to side as in a table top. If you are going to make a cue all out of the redwood it had better be well stabilized with the right material, or the grain of the burl will soon telegraph through the finish. For grain continuity you can book match the butts ends of the burl at the wrap joint.
Thanks Paul. All my material is professionally stabilized. The mirror or "bookmatch" at the butt was what I was asking about, and I think it would really look good that way. Larry
