Born To Play Pool

That is a comment that Earl made Sunday at Strokers. "I was born to play pool". An epiphany and I witnessed it.

Ah, to be so talented, to enjoy what you do, and to know that the Almighty God put you on this earth just to do what you are doing.

How great is that! What a positive statement. And still young enough to achieve even greater greatness.

How many of us would love to be in his shoes. We go from job to job, hobby to hobby, wife to wife, all wandering around wondering what our purpose is in life. So Earl now can put his demons behind him because he knows he is on a mission from God.

I fully expect Earl to start wearing a patch stating "Born to play pool". Hey, maybe he can even market them.

did earl invoke the almighty's name or did he simply say he was born to play.

you may be making light of it, but what earl said is definitely so.

there are those who merely love to do a thing, and there are those who HAVE to do a thing. earl is of the latter.

I agree totally with you. Not making light at all. Not sure if he said it to anyone in particular. Or if he even knew he said it. I think he was more or less thinking out loud. Not sure. He sure does have a gift. Ask him when you next see him.

Check back with him ...

He must be winning his match-ups lately ...
Ask him again later and see if he says,
"It's only a damn game" ...

He knew he said it. I have heard it from him plenty of times. He actually says it during an interview. It was on the "Pool, My Way" video a few yrs. back.

He says "The 1st time I saw those ball rolling on the table, I knew this game was for me. I was put on this planet to play pool". And he believes it........And the funny thing is, I DO too.

i feel the same way bout earl. he seems like a natural at the game. just like ronnie o' sullivan is a natural at snooker. an amazing coincidence between the two naturals is that they both have the same bad-boy image going for them.
