Job is sending me on a little trip. Any recommendations for rooms in Boston and Oakland would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

For your East Bay stay, you have several nice Rooms to choose from that are within 30 minutes or so.

Crown Billiards - San Ramon
California Billiards - Fremont
Broken Rack - Emeryville
Edgies - Milpitas

Hope this helps,

-Kat,

It really depends on what part of Oakland you are in. If you are downtown then the Broken Rack is closest. If you are in East Oakland then you are probably closer to California Billiards in Fremont. Both are nice rooms.

If you like bar tables there are a few bars in Castro Valley/San Leandro area that have tournaments but I haven't really been to them much.

If you just want to play at a bar and you are in downtown Oakland there are a few bars in Alameda that are relatively safe and have a table or two.

There is also a place in Jack London Square in Oakland that has a couple of big tables. But it definitely isn't a pool hall and the table time is expensive.

The Bowling Alley in Alameda took their tables out. Not sure if they are going back in or not.

There is also a pool hall on Bancroft in San Leandro. I haven't been there It's in a basement and looks like a hangout for younger players.

Crown Billiards in San Ramon is a nice option too. They have great tables and diamond bar tables. Saturdays they have cheap table time and I think table time is free on Sundays if you happen to be here over a weekend.

If you have a car, then I would definitely second California Billiards Club. One of the best rooms on the west coast, and you can get some action if that is your thing.

Food is great if your are looking for a bite to eat.

Tables are all Gold Crowns with 4.25" pockets and maintained for the most part by Ernesto Dominguez. Believe they have 7 bar tables in the back by the bar that play pretty well, too.

Enjoy!

Glad that I found this thread before a recent business trip to the East Bay. I tried out Broken Rack and CA Billiards (the Philly Cheesesteak didn't disappoint). Friendly service at both locations. The Broken Rack has a Diamond Table from the IPT days which was interesting. Thanks, all, for the suggestions.
