box v points
a lot depends on how the points are done, whether cnc'ed or spliced. if the points are inlayed, then box v points are essentially the same.
however, if the points are spliced, then points are much more difficult to construct. simply because you have to splice together the woods and then get the points as close to even as possible, which can be pretty difficult.
as far as playability, as for those w/ more knowledge, correct me if i'm wrong, box cues, because they are inlayed (usually to a pretty shallow depth) don't affect the hit. splice (short v full) points can affect hit, depending on wood choice, because the point wood goes deeper into the forearm. full splice cues most definitely impact the hit.
things get more complicated if you then introduce the number of points. 4 points go deeper into the forearm, while 6 pointed cues don't go as deep. also, in terms of construction, veneer bordered boxes are tough and some may consider it more difficult than a simple 4 point cue.
in summary, simple box vs simple 4 point, points are probably more difficult and can potentially influence hit.
because boxes are inlayed, u can put as many as your heart desires.
