Brackets For The King Of The Hill!!

That's a good point

I'm very surprised you left Manalo out of the top three in this group. Sure it's a tough group, but don't forget who was runner up to Efren last year in the World 8 Ball Championships.

That's a good point ... lol Man, groups 4 and 5 will be a dogfight, 5 especially.
I think Gabe is being overlooked. Think you liked his ball patterns and
finesse in 9 ball, it gets better in 8 ball. I think Shawn's powerful breaking
will come into play in 8 ball. I guess I have been a little down on Charlie
since his missed that 6 ball in the Mosconi Cup against Steve Davis and
lost his match.... lol (but it was an easy shot). I think Allison will play good.
How can Fred leave Hohmann out, I dunno. We sure could have a few
surprises along the way, but none bigger than if Helena makes it.

Actually Loree Jon Jones will get 30,000 just for showing up, all the HOF's get 30,000 no matter what.

You are right SS. So if Loree gets eliminated in her first round her two event total will be $105,000.

I would say that is not bad at all. Pretty good in fact. How many men have made that in a year? Or two? Or three?

Ronnie is not playing in the event, instead he is playing in the finals of the Premier Snooker League over here in the UK.

Sorry? The World number one in snooker is not playing the IPT??? WHY, drop snooker!

I guess this means we wont be seeing Ronnie in the IPT this year.
Its been made crystal clear that attendance to the invitation tourny is mandatory- wether you are playing or not, ie if you dont turn up, you lose your spot. :)

Dont be surprised to see a few wild cards being given for the first real IPT tourny. :p

Does anyone know for sure if Ronnie is playing?

From an article found on in the IPT news section.
O'Sullivan jumps ship to play pool over the pond
10/10/05
Guardian Unlimited © Guardian Newspapers Limited 2005
"O'Sullivan cannot play in the opening event because it clashes with the play-offs for Sky's Betfred Premier League, which he won last year, but expects to make his debut in Orlando, Florida, immediately after his defence of the Masters title at Wembley in January."

So they knew 20+ days ago that Ronnie wasnt coming but still put him in the draw?

G?

The finals of the Premier Snooker League culminate with the top 4 players playing off for the title, the top 4 have only been confirmed within the last week or so I think, so I presume Ronnie would of played the IPT event had he not qualified for the finals.

Since Ronnie is in the IPT, we have to assume he applied. Wouldn't he have known there could have been conflicting dates, as the IPT's dates were up well in advance of his application? And if he did know, then we also have to assume he is 'jumping ship' from snooker to 8-ball.

Ronnie is playing the IPT events when there are no conflicting dates with the Snooker Tour, seeing as there are only 5 events this year on the Snooker Tour, Ronnie should be able to play most of the IPT events.

Ronnie had nothing to do I presume with his place in the invitational, seeing as that what it is, an "invitational". The IPT probably should of seen if Ronnie was available for the event, rather than just putting him in on the list, I am guessing this is what happened, or there were mixed communications.

Ronnie has certainly not quit playing Snooker though just to stress that point.

I think the players in green will advance to level B, not easy to pick and I did go with a few personal favorites:) Group 5 does look like like the hardest, group 3 looks like a lock for Corey,Earl & Mika, although John is good straight pool player and might beat out Corey.

Group 1:
Karen Corr
Jose Parica
Kim Davenport
Nick Van den Berg
Grady Matthews
Johnny Archer

Group 2:
Allison Fisher
Francisco Bustamante
Raj Hundal
Allen Hopkins
Neils Fiejen
Ronnie O'Sullivan

Group 3:
Gerda Hofstatter
Corey Deuel
Earl Strickland
Mika Immonen
John Schmidt
Bill Incardona

Group 4:
Helena Thorfeldt
Marlon Manalo
Jeremy Jones
Tony Robles
Rodney Morris
Thorsten Hohmann

Group 5:
Shawn Putnam
Charlie Williams
Keith McCready
Ralf Souquet
Gabe Owen
George San Souci
You're picking Allen Hopkins over Neils Feijen? Morris over JJ? And Keith over Gabe Owen? Dude, we're ready to bet. Let me know when you're ready...

All of these groups are awesome, baby. And I know I didn't pick any women, but I don't think they're there. If I were to pick one woman to make it out of group one, I'd go with Karen Corr.

And any of the guys can win this event. It's tough not to say that Allen Hopkins will make it through his group. What an unbelievable all-around player he is. And 8-ball I think suits him more than some of the other players. And yet, I'm not picking him. Crazy.

My picke is still Manalo.

Fred
I agree with the jist of your picks. The only ones I would change are: Ronnie over Raj; Hohmann over Robles (even though I'm rooting for the latter); and, frankly, I think Gabe and Shawn, are big favorites over Keith and Charlie, respectively. Personally, I'm looking to Parica, Neils, Corey, Manalo, Hohmann, and Gabe to make waves... Nothing to choose between them. Of the old-timers, I'd probably take Kim Davenport.

If you read what I said above the picks you will see I said I picked a few personal favorites:) I know Niels plays some mean 8 ball and should be a lock to advance, but I could never pick against Allen:) I'm really pulling for him to make some waves, and I do think they all have a great shot at advancing.
