Hello, My friend has just taken delivery of his brand new star maxima 4 billiard table in the philippines. The tale has arrived wet and the wood backing (mdf) on the slate (black granite) looks funky on the back because it may have been wet on the dingy on delivery to his island. is this a major problem?? should he wait for it to dry and hope for the best.. sorry no pics just now, but was hoping someone may have some input with this experience.
thanks in advance

I am not a table mechanic but from my experience when MDF gets wet then dries out it ends up swelling and the surface will start chipping/falling off. It is my belief that this is going to cause problems. Maybe a table mechanic will chime in with more optimistic news, good luck!!

mmm... well im hoping to get a more definite response here because in the phils everyone is a table mechanic when it comes to making money from a problem. they will tell you everything and anything.. so its a bit of a worry. no genuine concern

If you can see the wood expanding as it is drying out it will cause problems. I have never seem a piece of MDF get wet, dry out and still be a decent board. Hope that helps.
