We are about to buy 12 Gold Crown IV's, which are now only offered with Brazilian slate, not Italian. We have heard a few negative things about the slate. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. By the way, everything else about the IV's we like a lot. Any thoughts?......

What have you heard about the brazilian slate? What's wrong with it?
How many people do you know who could tell the differance between the two slates, while playing on either of them? I am not talking about table mechanics, and how they like them or how they go together.

Do you think you could tell the differance, once the cloth was put on? If it plays well, at that point what does it matter where it came from?

There are diffierant grades of slate. But, if it plays well, can anyone tell what they are playing on??????It may have a differant sound, it's still soild, and flat. Ok what's the differance? Negative things, like what? Tells us what you heard and from whom, if possible?
Teach me something.

Yeah I don't see what country you dig it out of the ground at matters.
What I would be concerned about would be who milled it! A rock is a rock...just depends how good they cut it. And I am sure if they are using it on the GC4's then they are fine! They really have made great changes on the 4's.
Although....sure would be nice to see them make every thing here rather than overseas.......but that's another can of worms!

......

Hey Blud u avoidin me?.........

Take a look at that Pop quiz post and tell me if you know what year that table is. I put 5 or 6 pics I think. I would be guessing but I would think 40's ???

Brazillian slate speaks Portuguese, while Italian slate speaks Italian. I think that is the major difference. ;)

PTM, not at all sir, just busy as all get out. I looked at the pictures, and it's above me. Not a clue. Sorry, but it will come to me about the time you tell all.
I have in no way been avoiding you. I meant no disrespect to you. Sorry for not answering eariler, sir....

I be so tired of workin, I could just s..t.Fixin to fly to China, and Thailand, in mid-may, tryin to get cues built and shafts turned, and building three machines, one four head CNC parts and pocket machine and a 4 headed CNC saw/lathe, one more CNC parts and pocket machine with a new [added feature] saw/lathe attached also CNC, andthen go up on the hill, and try to drive a few nails in our new home, and more, s..t, and ball cleaners going out, and, and.And when I get home from my worldly travels, I got to deliver the new 4 head CNC saw/lathe, to Mike Gullasey, in the Carolina's.

Come home and then start another new machine, for "ME". [about time].

It is a new design by me, a new CNC 2 headed saw/lathe, that cutts sgafts, butts, and handles. Stands up on the wall, and takes up very little room..[ 2"X 2" and 56" tall....Just tired, my friend, just tired. hope you understand sir.

PTM - if you think the ivs are great, then you should see the 50 some that shooters has in their room in burnsville, minnesota. my opinion on whether someone should buy brunswick tables would be a Resounding NO. check out other options now, dont be sorry later. JMB (reserve the right to MY opinion)

I don't see the value of GC IV over the Gabriel's table myself.
Or a reconditioned I and II's.

slate is slate. as long as it is milled and sanded to the same specs it is all the same. i read some words that may bear so repeting "rock is rock"

Elaborate on that JMB...............what problems have you had with them. We have setup a few of them and been impressed!!
What should I see about the ones in Minnesota? Everything I have seen about the 4's has appeared to be a great improvement of the 3's!
Why would you not recomend them?
