Break cue recommendation...

I agree, but when I bought mine a couple years ago it was under $220 new. They're around $350 now & I might be tempted to try something else instead if I were in the market.

Depends where you look it's 315 on eBay, but I payed the upcharge from billiard factory cause I wanted it NOW LOL
On Amazon for under 300 new
You can find them used for 150 though

Any break cue recommendation OTHER THAN BK Rush and Cuetec

I have the BK Rush and I'm just not happy with it at all. That thing was expensive too, but not my cup of tea.

Just looking to see what else is out there
Use a house cue . If you paid for a predator and don’t like it . Use a house cue and get over paying for another one .

Mezz PowerBreak G...

Doubt it's much different than the rush, but it is a hair more expensive. The PB-G was my first dedicated breaker in 30yrs of playing, and it has made a notable difference in getting energy into the pack. Every single person I've let swing away with that breaker does two things. On the first break, they miscue hard. On the second attempt they dial it back a hair, hit it good and say wow that's nice.

The stock Sonic tip is very unforgiving but when you hit it clean... :)

Before swapping out an entire cue, you might consider changing the weight in the one you have currently.

Some people, like me, break better with a lighter weight cue and some prefer heavier.

it’s a simple thing to remove some weight and see if that improves your accuracy, which could easily improve your overall break.

For what it’s worth, I absolutely love my BK Rush, but as always, it’s more the Indian than the arrow…

While on the topic, any feedback on the Schmelke's w/ the Purpleheart shafts? I've had one in the shopping cart but not pulled the trigger.

This is a guess on my part, but I'd expect a PH break shaft to fall somewhere between standard maple & the Black Ice b/c PH is: 1) denser than maple; and 2) ~ 1 oz heavier than maple while the Black Ice is ~ 2 oz heavier than maple. So, you should have a more forward-weighted cue than usual that isn't as extreme as the Black Ice.

Maybe a different tip and or ferrule might change the feel, I bought a Mezz short Break Cue & played with it a lot. I only play Golf on a Snooker table now, so I have no need for a Break Cue.

I don't have a problem with a designated Custom Break Cue, but Production Break Cues all feel different, it's just the way things are.

They're generally stiffer and have a harder break-specific tip. Get more speed with same stroke. Most house cues have shitty soft tips. If you're playing rotation against a player with a decent break cue and you use a wally you are at a disadvantage.
what does a break cue do different thn a house cue

Like throwing a tank at the rack instead of a Volkswagen.

Some people have a tank like stroke, few, most don't and the specifically made cue to crack the rack does wonders over a house cue.

For those of us without a tank in the arm
