Last night after a breaking session, I noticed that on my shaft there are a few 1-1/2" or so scratches (can feel with a fingernail) throughout the base of the shaft. One even nicked the collar. I think that is mainly in the clearcoat but the rest are into the wood. I have thought about sending it in but would probably have 30-40 dollars in shipping plus labor, etc. It isn't in the bridge area so shouldn't affect play and I didn't notice the collar being split.
My question is, is there anything I can do to fix this myself? Would it be worth using as is and saving up for a replacement shaft or more worth it to have the repairs done now?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. PM's welcomed too.
I feel really bad about this, never happened to me before and am not sure what caught ahold of it.......maybe the pocket irons, I have an antique brunswick with drop pockets.....
Thanks again
