Break cue tip/ferrule suggestions

I recently bought a Prather SP to use as a break cue. My questions are: would it help any to use a phenolic ferrule instead of the standard ferrule that came on it, I believe it is an Ivorine type? Could the shaft receive unintended damage by adding this tip/ferrule combination? The shaft is 13mm and has a 3/8 x 1" joint with Phenolic collars. The brass(?) joint threads into wood in the shaft. Thank you in advance for your help. Pms with any expertise are much appreciated
 
You would not get any advantage from changing the Ivorine to phenolic. The strength is similar. The shaft will be fine for breaking.
 
Technically, yes, they are both in the melamine family. Ivorine is a brand name and was a bit softer than what think of as a phenolic ferrule.
 
Thank you guys. I will have my cue repairman double check the material that is on there now. I am just not knowledgeable to know what was used. If it is similar to Ivorine, I will go with it. Otherwise I may go with the phenolic. The brown phenolic to match the joint collars and butt ring......
