Break cue tip.

I bought a new break cue with a phenolic tip. Is the tip the reason for the tinny high pitched sound when the cue ball is hit? The sound really bothers me. I've put the shaft on different butts but the sound stays the same. Would changing the tip fix this as the sound really bothers me. It's a BK3 cue with a phenolic tip. Any tip recommendations welcome.

Thanks guys.

go to leather, problem solved

I've had good experience with Kamui Black hard , Samsara and Ultraskin HH

I've yet to find a phenolic or hybrid that can match their control

YMMV

Sure you will adjust to the sound.
Buying a bk3 abd swapping the tip is a bit counterintuitive. That cue is a player....

I've had great feedback on the new Kamui SAI break tips. Hard leather, great control, "normal" sound, etc. I've probably installed about 20 now and everyone seems to be very happy with them. I've pretty much stopped installing anything else on break cues. Now I just need to use up all of the others I have in my inventory.

The one I like the best is actually just a super hard pressed milk dud tip.

As for commercially available tips I really like the Hammerhead 2 by Outsville. The White Diamond is also a very good tip but to me it felt a bit squishy. HH2 and WD are pretty similar tips just HH2 is a bit less squishy/dull feeling.

Just like regular tips. You gotta try different ones and see what works for you. White Diamond gets recommended all the time. Good tip but I hated it. I am using the Bulletproof tip now and love it.

Like said already though, a hard leather will probably get the more normal sound. The bulletproof gives me a less tinky sound than the WD but the performance is worth the different sound. I don’t even notice anymore.

Andy Gilbert’s Gator jump/break tip is excellent.
Very hard leather, never seen a delamination… Been using them about a decade.

Your going to have to change the tip.

I'm using a Kamui Sai and it has a slight ping to the tip

You are going to need something that is leather, It was hard but the Samsara Break tip would be good
