I currently have a Mezz break cue, it had the Mezz factory Black ignot tip.

I found it to break ok, but left black marks all over the whitey, and it's a pain to get whitey clean, so i changed it to a white diamond tip, and it does the same.

I was thinking of changing to a Phenolic tip or G-10 tip but would this also leaving the cue ball all marked up?

ive never seen a phenolic tip mark the balls. i has a similar problem with a break cue that had a black carbon fiber 1 pc tip. (i was told it was carbon fiber) i think its the same thing your saying. it was my only problem with that break cue. one of the best ive ever owned. i think the tip broke the best but the marks are bad. so i sold it

I have seen a phenolic tip mark the balls but problem was in balls, balls was bad, is probably that with a good balls of phenolic resin you dont have this problem.
