break cue

Maybe this question was asked before but is it necessary to have a break cue pros and cons thanks.

Simple answer is no. Depends on your level of play,expectations of the game of pool, and honestly whether you want one or not. I have seen some of the best gamblers use the same cue to play and break with. While others do not want to flatten or abuse their playing cues tip, and either use a break cue or a house cue off the wall. There really is not an answer to your question that will be the right one. You may ask the forum all you want and what is best, but at best, u will get a number of personal opinions due to different styles and needs of play. just ask yourself, do I want and need a break cue, or do I not.

Is not necessary to have a break cue, if you play 9 ball, one pocket or straight pool, is not necessary to have a break cue if you play with a 13 mm shaft.
But, if you play 8 ball, and you have a 11.75 mm shaft, a break cue is a must have.

I like to have a break cue, in that way I don't have to worry about damage my playing cue.

The cons are :
- Price.
- Weight.

How seriously do you play? To those that gamble the break is extremely important & having a break or break/jump is advantageous for the same reason as having a regular playing cue, that being the consistency that the same cue provides every time instead of relying on whatever's hanging on the wall.

If u don't play a lot I'd say no but I play a lot and break a lot and I don't like my tip getting flat ect I also like a lil more forward weight in my breaking cue so that's another reason imo I like haven one but its not a must have :thumbup:

If you want a break cue buy a $40 - $65 Lucky or Players cue with a triangle tip. Anything more, especially the $200 - $400 break cues are a waste of money IMO.
