Ok, here is the scoop. I have an older nice break/jump cue by Viking with a custom fitted maple shaft (conventional) and a white diamond tip. It jumps with ease but since the shaft has been turned down over the years, it seems a bit too thin or snappy for breaking. As hard as I try, it seems that the cue ball moves too much on the break. I am sure some of this is my fault too in technique.
I am looking to improve performance and am wondering if I should look for new equipment to replace either or both or use what I have now. I have a new Predator 314-2 shaft for a different cue that fits the break/jump but the tip seems too soft. Would it work well to put a White diamond tip on it and use for Breaking? What about Jumping?
I also have a cheap jump cue with a 14mm conventional shaft and a white diamond tip that doesn't seem to get as much action as the break/jump (I don't use it too much yet so that might just be me not being used to it).
I have an offer of 150.00 on the shaft which could buy part of a decent break cue if you think this is a better direction.
What is on the market for either a break or break/jump cue at around the 150-200 price range. Any thoughts on the Jericho Stinger's performance. I tried one awhile back and it seemed to work well.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. PM's are welcome too.
