Two things:
1) I got a hairline crack in my Ignite G ferrule, and I am considering whether to have it repaired or to leave it. It doesn't currently affect the breaking, make any strange sound or anything like that. But I am concerned it is a problem waiting to happen. I can have it repaired for around 400rmb (40$) - Wondering if it's worth doing, and if anyone has experience with replacing the ferrule on a carbon break shaft to share. Whether the IGG (or whatever Mezz calls it) is easy to replicate? Whether it is going to be a lasting repair on a carbon shaft? Which I imagine is not going to be as consistent as a repair to a wood shaft being a less malleable material.
2) Picked up a spare united joint break shaft from a brand called 'Gold9' - made in Japan apparently. Bought it second hand for 1200rmb (120$), and it looks (as you'd expect Japanese product to be) very well made. Slightly slower taper than the Ignite G resulting in a 12.9mm tip (compare to my Ignite G which is just below 12.8mm with a more pronounced taper). Hit a handful of racks with it last night. Quite happy with it. Will hit a few more later and stick some thoughts and pictures here. Anyone heard of this brand before?
To be honest, even with the slight crack, I could likely sell the Ignite G for more than I have paid for this Gold9, as they don't come up often on re-selling apps
