Break shaft ferrule?

I installed a Taom tip on an old original X Breaker shaft. On my second break with the new Taom, it exploded and the ferrule cracked.
So my question is---what ferrule material do you recommend and should I use threaded, unthreaded, capped or uncapped on the replacement ferrule? Thanks!

Tan Canvas Phenolic, threaded and capped. If you want a white ferrule then the white linen, threaded and capped.

G10 threaded and capped works fine too.
